Caio Kehyayan is a Brazilian guitarist, composer, and mixing & mastering engineer, mostly known as the Lead Guitarist of FireWing & Vital Remains. Caio began playing the electric guitar at the age of 8, and was taught by professor Fabiano Rodrigues throughout his entire childhood and early teenage years. After joining several metal bands from his hometown, São Paulo, and intensifying his studies in the electric guitar and music theory, Caio decided to follow a career path in music. With this in mind, he then applied and was accepted to Berklee College of Music, a world-renowned music school, where he then further developed his musical abilities and began his formal studies in Music Production and Engineering in 2016. Four years have passed since he started his studies at Berklee, and now, he has his degree in Music Production & Engineering.

As a guitarist, Caio studied both jazz and classical harmony, applying these concepts to his compositions and to FireWing’s debut record, Resurrection. He aims to keep balance amongst the technical complexities of the riffs whilst maintaining clear melodic lines. The classes at Berklee provided him with various musical tools, which contributed to broadening his horizons as both a guitarist and composer. Caio was heavily influenced by guitarists such as Zakk Wylde, John Petrucci, Kiko Loureiro, and Guthrie Govan, as well as his longtime Berklee guitar teacher, Shaun Michaud. Caio is currently the lead guitarist of the legendary death metal band Vital Remains, and also is the founder of FireWing, a symphonic progressive metal band that released its debut record Resurrection in 2021 with the German label Massacre Records and also, it was released through Universal Music in Brazil. The album was awarded the 7th best metal record of 2021 by the prestigious Rodie Crew Magazine and have been receiving great critics by the most prestigious websites throughout the globe.

As an audio engineer, Caio is extremely precise when running a session; his accurate mic-ing and recording techniques allow for the best and most precise sounds to be captured, ensuring that the recorded artists are satisfied with the final result. Caio is highly influenced by the Chris Lord Compression techniques, however, his uniqueness comes from the fact that he combines this influence to what he learns from his Berklee professors – Richard Mendelson, Daniel Cantor, Jason Stokes, Alex Rodrigues, amongst others. With all the knowledge he absorbed form his professors, Caio has a deep understanding and practical abilities in how to work in an analog or digital environment, and after years experimenting different mixing styles and techniques, Caio developed his own mixing method to satisfy any client from a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Moreover, Caio not only focused his studies in mixing and recording. He also has experience in arrangement & post-production for jingles and movies. His workflow is efficient and he works really well under pressure. If there is a job that needs to be done fast and precise, Caio will definitely work hard to accomplish the goal and meet the high-quality standard that the industry requires.

Special Thanks for Caio’s endorsers ESP Guitars, ENGL Amps, and Moore Audio that believe in his talent and supports his career!
